I am wondering if it is safe to place a psd with layers in a
illustrator file (saved as eps) when it goes to a commercial
printer (overseas, no communication with me). Previously, I have
prepared the placed pics with a background to suit the background
of lower illustrator layers, flatten and save as tif. This bg
then "disappears" into the bg of the art work. In other words
that the duck or whatever sits there naturally without looking
like a rectangular picture.
But with Illustrator CS, not 8 as I used to use, it seems I can
place a pic with transparent background and it looks fine in my
artwork without having to put in any special background layer in
PS CS where I prepare the pics. This is very convenient! But I am
wondering about portability and for the printer.
