Archived from groups: alt>graphics>illustrator (more info?)

Someone asked how to do train tracks....

Using the dotted, and spacing in the Line pallette you can use the following
formula..
Basically you make 6 copies Pasted in Front(on Top)

so first draw a Path and copy it....( when we paste this you could use a
separate layer to contain each of the dot settings, as objects are hard to grab
when on top of each other...)

Naturally you can do this Multiple copies Train track on one layer--just hard
to grab say Patth 3 if theyre on top of each other

So draw the path that will have the Traintrack formula..
for starters just do a straight line

Bottom to Top ( fattest line width is bottom-most layer, obviously!)

Stroke Color Stroke Weight Stroke Option (d=dash Gap=g)
All butt caps (basic)
______________________________________________________
70% BaseColor 12pt d=0, g=4
BaseColor(100%) 7 pt Solid Line
White 6pt Solid Line
BaseColor(100%) 5pt Solid Line
White 4pt Solid Line
70% BaseColor 4pt d=2, g=4

Basecolor of course can be just Black ( or use a custom color and set a
percentage)

Once you get the hang of this it should be easy to figure out how to make this
formula to make a little more advanced
Wooden crossbars and metal color for rail ( with rounded ends) using round caps
instead of Butt cap
