Is there anything I need to know differently about designing for large
format such as vinyl, etc? I know to use vector or the most resolution
possible to work if I have to go raster and to use native format or .tif.
Anything else I need to know?

I'm going for a job doing large format, so I need to know asap, please.

Thanks!

Skywolf.

Are you designing for cut vinyl, or for printed vinyl? If they will be
running vinyl through a large format printer, you can do pretty much
whatever you like. If this will be produced as cut vinyl shapes (such
as for vehicle graphics, banners, etc.) there are a few things to
consider. Every single line in the document will be cut, so strokes
should be avoided if possible or converted to outlines. Outlines on
large shapes should have some trap, maybe .1", with the inner shape
overlaying the outline. For small shapes, the outlines should be filled
in completely rather than trapped. You should also use pathfinders to
join any overlapping shapes, or else the plotter will slice up your
design. That's especially common on cursive and script type.

Hopefully that was relevant to your project... Smile

I forgot to mention the most important part: only vector art can be
used for cut vinyl. Bitmap images are only useable if you're printing.
