Wow, I look in the Type menu, and there it is, and works like
gangbusters -- except the word "Glyph", dictionary definition
glyph, n.
1. Architecture. A vertical groove, especially in a Doric
column or frieze.
2. A symbolic figure that is usually engraved or incised.
3. A symbol, such as a stylized human figure on a public
sign, that imparts information nonverbally.
is not a search term I would have thought to use in a search
for "font table" or the equivalent, even after long experience
with computers and technical writing. Is glyph somehow a
term of art or jargon for this in graphics, esp. computer graphics?
(The alternative solution of going into International Preferences (!)
to get at a font palette seems even more arcane.)
Thanks anyway!
