Hi,
I'm not in the professional graphic design field, so please tolerate any
lack of knowledge that I may reveal here.
I'm just starting to use Illustrator CS to see if I can find an easier way
of accomplishing a design task than I have been able to find in Corel Draw -
I have used Corel Draw 9 for a number of years, and previous versions of CD
before that.
Specifically, I'm developing a paper-based instrument based on a pinwheel
design like the artist's colour wheel. This 'wheel' consists of concentric
circles with multiple pieces of text fitted to each circle.
While I'm still in the development process, I need to be able to go back and
edit many of these pieces of text. Editing might variously involve moving
the text above or below the path (circle) that it is fitted to, moving the
text further along or further back on the circle, or adding to the text in
some way such as creating another line 'underneath' (in the same element) as
the specific piece of text being edited.
Although I can fit several pieces of text to a closed path in Illustrator
CS, I learned how to do this today, and am unfamiliar with whether or not
it's possible to go in and do anything other than add to these pieces of
text. In Corel Draw, it seems that one can only move the text if it is the
only piece of text on a path, so my solution with that programme was to
create different layers with only one piece of text on each layer.
However, this solution is cumbersome given the amount of text that I will be
creating, so I would be grateful if anyone could tell me how to accomplish
fitting separate pieces of text to a closed path while retaining all editing
functions.
Many thanks,
Geert. >> Stay informed about: Editing Multiple Pieces of Text on a Closed Path? |

That is not possible I think Geert. Text on a curve is a separate path.
No way you can have different pieces of text on one path and manipulate
them separately. You do need the layers.
