I've got about 1,000 .AI files that I want to convert to .EPS files.

Can someone point me to a utility for doing this?

If those files are created with Illustrator 8 or earlier, than the AI files
are already EPS...

Can't you just use the built-in batch processing in Illustrator to do this?
